This recipe produces an ooey, gooey treat that’s perfect after a long day in the backcountry. It takes about 45 minutes to prepare from scratch, leaves very few dishes, and uses clean ingredients that won’t weigh you down the next morning.
The ingredients (listed below) are easy enough to store in a pack—just bring tupperware containers for the butter and frozen cherries. Because butter is perishable, I don’t recommend saving this recipe for the last day of a multi-day backpacking trip.
