Three Last Minute Gifts For Your Adventurer

Written by: Devon Balet

Do you have someone on your Christmas list that seems to have every bit of gear? Are you struggling to figure out something to get that outdoors adventure-loving family member? Here are three new and little known products any adventurer could put to use!

Goal Zero Lighthouse Mini

Just like its big brother, the powerful Lighthouse Mini Lantern and USB Power Hub commands attention and proves that smaller is better. It packs 210 watts of light and a max run time of 500 hours. Not only is it a light, but it is also a charging unit, with enough power to do a full cellphone charge. You can charge the light with any USB plug with it’s build-in charging cable, and switch out the battery core of the light. For on-the-go light and power, this little unit is a go-to piece of gear for any adventure.

Julbo Vermont Classic Sunglasses

Julbo’s traditional mountaineering glasses are a timeless piece, a signature of their mountain history. Rockstars, mountaineers and Julbo fans from all walks of life have sung their praise. To celebrate their 125th anniversary and give their fans the sunglasses they’ve been requesting, Julbo brought back the Vermont. It utilizes the brand’s traditional mountaineering frame with a round lens, a leather nose piece and leather side shields. My father has these exact pair of glasses from 35 years ago. I had to get a pair myself.

Wahoo Fitness TickrX Heart Rate Sensor

This new piece of gear from Wahoo Fitness deserves it’s own full review. At first glance it looks like every other heart rate sensor, but it’s much more than that. For starters, this sensor integrates beautifully into a range of Wahoo Fitness apps, as well as most of the other main stream fitness apps, meaning you can upload your workout with a click of a button. Don’t want to carry your cellphone or GPS on your run, but still want data from the workout? Well, this sensor works independently of phones and GPS, allowing you to track your workout sans device, and upload it later (some tracking information is not available in this mode). For anyone looking to up their fitness and need some guidance, Wahoo Fitness also offers a range of workout apps including RunFit and 7 Minute Workout. The app and your sensor work together to give you a new level of fitness through your mobile device.
